Uzbekistan Shows Low Level of AI Adoption — 5.7%, According to Microsoft Data

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan remains at an early stage in the integration of artificial intelligence technologies, with an AI Diffusion rate of only 5.7%, according to a new report by the Microsoft AI Economy Institute.

The study highlights the country’s limited digital and energy infrastructure, as well as a shortage of linguistic data required for localized AI models.

According to the report, access to electricity stands at around 80%, internet connectivity ranges between 80% and 100%, and the Digital Adoption Index does not exceed 40%. Uzbekistan currently lacks large-scale data centers and platforms necessary for the operation of modern AI systems.

Experts note that these indicators reflect the early stage of AI development and emphasize the need for investments in digital infrastructure, the creation of Uzbek-language AI models, and the improvement of digital literacy among the population. Other priorities include supporting startups and expanding computational capacity to accelerate the deployment of AI technologies.

Despite the modest figures, Microsoft analysts point out that ongoing reforms and the development of a national strategy for artificial intelligence lay the foundation for future growth and the strengthening of Uzbekistan’s innovative potential.
