Uzbekistan showcases its outsourcing and investment potential in IT sector in Tokyo
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The "Uzbekistan Outsourcing Conference" was held in Tokyo with the support of the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan and IT Park Uzbekistan.
The main objective of the event was to present Uzbekistan’s investment and human capital potential in the field of information technologies, and to establish direct connections with Japanese IT companies.
Representatives of the Ministry and IT Park delivered detailed presentations on government support for the IT sector, the country’s advanced infrastructure, tax incentives, and the wide range of opportunities available to foreign investors. Particular attention was paid to training programs for IT specialists.
The conference opened with welcoming remarks from Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov and Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Japan Muzaffar Abdurakhmonov. Both speakers highlighted the growing digital cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan, ongoing reforms in the IT sector, and the country’s investment prospects.
Akihiro Sakurai, advisor to the Minister, outlined Uzbekistan’s digital development strategy and emphasized new opportunities for Japanese companies. In addition, IT Park representatives presented the country’s outsourcing potential, the IT visa program, the “Zero Risk” initiative, and the availability of a strong talent pool in the IT sector.
A representative of JETRO shared insights into Uzbekistan’s business climate and investment environment.
Yasuyuki Noguchi of Digital Knowledge spoke about ongoing educational projects in Uzbekistan, while Kotaro Okada of CICC discussed potential avenues for cooperation.
As part of the conference, individual meetings were held with companies such as Side International, CrossCat, and Outsourcing Technology Inc.
At the conclusion of the event, major corporations — including Rakuten, Mitsubishi Corporation, ULTRA X, Sojitz Corporation, Daiwa House Group, FPT Consulting Japan, NEC, and Aioi Nissay Dowa Insurance — were formally invited to participate in the Global Business Services Forum, scheduled for July 24.
The conference served as an important platform for Japanese companies to gain a deeper understanding of Uzbekistan’s digital ecosystem and explore promising opportunities for collaboration.
The event gathered around 200 participants representing over 160 companies, more than 20 of which expressed concrete interest in entering the Uzbek market.
