Uzbekistan Senate Ratifies Jordan Extradition Treaty

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During the fourteenth plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the Law "On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Government of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on Extradition," signed in Samarkand on August 26, 2025, was considered and approved.

The document regulates cooperation between the parties regarding the extradition of individuals who have committed crimes for the purpose of bringing them to criminal justice. The agreement defines the list of offenses that may serve as grounds for extradition, as well as the conditions for refusal, procedures for preliminary detention, and specific protocols for the treatment of extradited persons.

Furthermore, the document designates the central authorized bodies responsible for implementing the provisions of the agreement and coordinating interaction between the two parties.

Senators emphasized that the ratification of this agreement is aimed at strengthening Uzbekistan's international cooperation in the fight against transnational crime, terrorism, and organized crime. Following the discussion, the law was approved.
