 
                            
                                Uzbekistan Secures Second Place at 2025 Asian Youth Games
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan national team delivered outstanding results at the 2025 Asian Youth Games, winning 37 gold, 16 silver, and 28 bronze medals, securing second place in the overall medal standings behind China.
The team’s strongest performances came in wrestling and weightlifting. In judo, Uzbek athletes earned 7 gold, 4 silver, and 3 bronze medals, while in weightlifting they captured 7 gold, 2 silver, and 4 bronze. Wrestling brought 3 gold, 2 silver, and 8 bronze medals, and boxing contributed 5 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals.
Uzbek athletes also achieved notable success in other sports, including Muay Thai (2 gold, 3 bronze), mixed martial arts (MMA) (1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze), Kurash (4 gold), athletics (3 gold, 3 silver, 3 bronze), Pencak Silat (1 gold, 1 bronze), road cycling (1 gold), taekwondo (3 gold, 1 silver), swimming (1 bronze), and jiu-jitsu (1 bronze).
The top five countries by total medal count at the 2025 Asian Youth Games are: China — 63 gold, 49 silver, 35 bronze (147 medals); Uzbekistan — 37 gold, 16 silver, 28 bronze (81 medals); Kazakhstan — 24 gold, 29 silver, 40 bronze (93 medals); Iran — 22 gold, 18 silver, 36 bronze (76 medals); and Thailand — 15 gold, 15 silver, 18 bronze (48 medals).
For comparison, Uzbekistan ranked 14th at the previous Asian Youth Games in 2013 in China, winning just 8 medals: 1 gold, 2 silver, and 5 bronze. The Games scheduled for 2017 and 2021 were cancelled.
