Uzbekistan Secures Passports and Wages for Citizens in Kazakhstan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan Migration Agency reported the resolution of a labor violation incident at the “Karima” restaurant in Astana, Kazakhstan.

According to the agency, five Uzbek citizens working at the establishment faced the confiscation of their passports by the employer and had not received wages for three months.

The Uzbekistan Embassy in Astana intervened promptly, contacting the restaurant management and demanding the return of documents and full payment of the owed salary. In addition, the competent Kazakh authorities took control of the situation and applied administrative measures against the employer.

As a result of these coordinated efforts, on March 14, the workers’ passports were returned, and their salaries totaling $5,290 were paid.

The Migration Agency emphasized that swift intervention and coordination with Kazakh authorities enabled a rapid resolution of the case and ensured the protection of Uzbek citizens’ rights abroad.
