Uzbekistan, Russia to develop navigation and information technologies in the transport sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 1 October, within the framework of the 4th meeting of the Russian-Uzbek business council, a memorandum of cooperation on the development of navigation and information technologies in the transport sector was signed between the Russian GLONASS (operator of the state automated information system “ ERA-GLONASS ") and the Uzbek SMARTGEO "(developer of solutions in the field of information and navigation systems).

“Today, the main task of any state is to ensure security and prevent damage to the life and health of citizens, as well as the environment. The symbiosis of technologies of GLONASS JSC and the Uzbek company SMARTGEO will allow providing the government and emergency services with the opportunity to make the most operational decisions in saving lives of those injured in road accidents and to act on the basis of full awareness. This is a real help in saving the lives of people in need,” Igor Milashevsky, General Director of GLONAS, said.

According to the director of SMARTGEO Ulugbek Baidadayev: “Cooperation with GLONASS JSC began about a year ago. The signing of the memorandum will not only create an emergency response system for transport accidents but also solve a number of state tasks for monitoring vehicles of various categories: passenger transport, transportation of especially dangerous goods, etc., with the prospect of creating an intelligent digital transport and logistics platform ".

It is worth noting that the introduction of such a large-scale state information system will require the involvement of qualified specialists in high-tech and innovative industries. This project can become a serious platform for motivating young professionals, creating partnership programs with universities and retaining valuable labor personnel in the Republic of Uzbekistan. ”
