Uzbekistan, Russia to boost cooperation on security

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Russia are set to intensify cooperation in addressing emerging challenges and threats in the Eurasian region, according to Timofey Bordachev, Programme Director of the Valdai Discussion Club, in comments to TASS.

He noted that key challenges facing the region are linked to climate change, water scarcity, and demographic processes, emphasizing that these factors require coordinated efforts and long-term interstate solutions.

Bordachev highlighted that discussions on these issues reflect strong engagement from the authorities of both countries. “Our discussion today demonstrated that the governments of Russia and Uzbekistan are taking these matters very seriously,” he said.

The expert spoke on the sidelines of a Russian-Uzbek conference organized by the Valdai Discussion Club in cooperation with the Institute for Strategic and Interregional Studies.

The event focused on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries across the Eurasian space.
