Uzbekistan, Russia Discuss Migration Policy Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 24–25 March 2026, the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan hosted the second meeting of the Uzbek-Russian interagency working group on migration issues.

The session was attended by official delegations from the relevant ministries and agencies of both countries. It was co-chaired by Deputy General Prosecutor of Uzbekistan D. Kasimov and Deputy General Prosecutor of Russia P. Gorodov.

During the meeting, participants discussed the current state of migration flows, key challenges requiring joint regulation, and ways to strengthen the rule of law and protect citizens’ rights within bilateral cooperation.

Special attention was given to safeguarding the rights of foreign nationals, ensuring compliance with labor laws by citizens working in Russia, countering extremism and terrorism, expanding the treaty framework, and enhancing information exchange to improve transparency in migration processes.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed the importance of further strengthening bilateral relations and coordination between state authorities. They also committed to increasing oversight and control to ensure the protection of rights for citizens of both countries working abroad.
