Uzbekistan, Russia discuss development of cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On the sidelines of the II International Investment Forum of the Jizzakh region, a meeting was held between Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Alexey Gruzdev.

Assessing the development of the Uzbek-Russian economic relations, the parties emphasized the strategic nature of the intercountry partnership, the dynamics of which are characterized by accelerated growth, especially over the past few years.

During the talks, issues of developing bilateral cooperation in the field of trade and investment were discussed. In particular, opportunities were considered to increase the number of joint projects involving Russian capital and to increase the volume of mutual deliveries of high-tech products of the engineering, chemical, textile, electrical industries and other goods demanded in the markets of both countries.

As part of the discussion, specific investment projects aimed at placing high-tech industries in Uzbekistan with the prospect of exporting products to third-country markets were considered, as well as questions from Russian investors already operating in the Republic, on which effective solutions were developed.

Following the talks, based on the voiced need for a systematic approach to expanding investment, trade and economic cooperation, an agreement was reached to intensify cooperation between the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation through the organization of systematic joint work on an ongoing basis .
