Uzbekistan Represented in FIFA Committees for the First Time

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — For the first time in history, Uzbek football specialists have been appointed to official committees of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA).

Following a decision by the FIFA Council, Ravshan Irmatov, First Vice-President of the Uzbekistan Football Association, was appointed Deputy Chair of the Committee on Technology, Innovation, and Digital Transformation in Football for the 2025–2029 term.

The committee oversees the implementation and testing of technologies including VAR, goal-line technology, semi-automated offside systems, digital monitoring, and artificial intelligence. The committee is chaired by FIFA’s Director of Football Technology, Johannes Holzmüller.

In addition, Avaz Maksumov, Secretary General of the UFA, joined the Beach Soccer Committee, and Yulia Panina, Head of Women’s Football Development at the UFA, became a member of the Committee on Women’s National Teams Competitions.

These appointments highlight Uzbekistan’s active collaboration with FIFA. In 2024, the country hosted the FIFA Futsal World Cup for the first time, and the Youth World Cup is planned for 2027.
