Uzbekistan Reports Privatization of National Postal Operator UzPost
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s national postal operator, UzPost (Oʻzbekiston pochtasi), has reportedly been privatized, economist Otabek Bakirov reported, citing “various independent sources.”
According to his information, the buyer of the state stake in UzPost may be “one of the northern marketplaces”, with observers suggesting that this could be a Russian online platform.
At the time of publication, neither the Agency for Management of State Assets nor UzPost had issued official comments regarding the potential transaction.
Earlier, in June, UzPost made changes to its list of affiliated entities, removing Alokabank, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and several related structures. The updated list now includes the Agency for Management of State Assets, the National Investment Fund of Uzbekistan (UzNIF), and companies more than 20% owned by the Agency.
In September, a 25% stake in UzPost, previously intended for transfer to UzNIF, was formally registered in favor of the Agency for Management of State Assets.
