Uzbekistan repairs 32 km of railroads in 1Q

Uzbekistan carried out works on reconstruction and repair of 31.7 km of railroads in the first quarter of 2013 within implementation of the programme on speeding up development of infrastructure, transport and communication construction in 2011-2015, , an article published by Ministry of Economy and State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said.
Within the programme, works on production of 96 cargo and 7 passenger wagons were completed, the publication said.
Uzbekistan used investments for US$7.3 million within the project on electrification of railroad Maroqand-Qarshi and US$4.9 million – Qarshi-Termez in January-March 2014.
Uzbekistan used resources of Republican Road Fund for 41.7 billon soums in the first three months of 2014 to reconstruct and construct automobile roads of Uzbek national highways, which rose 2.2 times compared to the same period of 2013. The foreign investments for US$9.6 million, attracted under guarantee of the Government of Uzbekistan, were also used in the reporting period.
