Uzbekistan Registers New Rules for Organ Transplantation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Justice has registered new regulations governing medical examinations, preparation, and post-operative care for organ transplant recipients and donors, the ministry said Monday.

The regulation, registered under number 3706 on 21 November 2025, sets procedures for medical assessments and the issuance of official approvals for transplant surgeries. Recipients and living donors must undergo examinations within three months. Approval for transplantation is granted by a medical council at designated state institutions, as outlined in Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 333 of 13 June 2024. The council evaluates the recipient’s need for surgery and the donor’s fitness, or it may deny authorization.

Medical approval is withheld if the operation could result in loss of vision, speech, hearing, mental disorders, or more than a 33% loss of working capacity.

In addition, Regulation No. 3708, also registered on 21 November 2025, establishes rules for pre-surgery preparation, rehabilitation, and follow-up monitoring of donors and recipients. Patients must provide consent on video before the operation.

Post-transplant care includes a 21-day rehabilitation period and ongoing monitoring at local medical facilities. Recipients receive free immunosuppressive medications during this period, according to officials.
