Uzbekistan Records Growth in the Number of Operating Enterprises with Foreign Investments
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 1 December 2025, Uzbekistan has 471,700 operating enterprises and organizations, of which 85.1% (401,500) are classified as small and micro-enterprises, according to the National Statistics Committee.
The highest concentration of businesses is observed in the capital city, Tashkent (22.9%), as well as in Tashkent Region (9.7%), Samarkand Region (8.6%), Ferghana Region (8.0%), and Kashkadarya Region (6.4%).
By economic activity, trade leads with 32.5% of all enterprises, followed by industry at 12.6%, and agriculture, forestry, and fishing at 7.3%. Together, these three sectors account for more than half of all active enterprises in the country.
Among legal forms of business, limited liability companies (LLCs) dominate — 318,300 units, representing 78.5% of all commercial enterprises, highlighting the prevalence of LLCs as the most common form of business organization in Uzbekistan.
The number of enterprises with foreign investments reached 17,900, including 4,228 joint ventures and 13,672 fully foreign-owned companies. Over the past year, their number increased by 2,450 units (15.9%), primarily due to growth in trade (from 5,526 to 6,403), industry (from 3,343 to 3,706), and construction (from 1,146 to 1,389).
China leads in the number of investing enterprises with 4,873 companies (27.2%), followed by Russia — 3,209 (17.9%), Türkiye — 2,109 (11.8%), Kazakhstan — 1,199 (6.7%), South Korea — 691 (3.9%), and Afghanistan — 637 (3.6%). Other investors include the UAE, Tajikistan, India, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, the USA, Turkmenistan, Belarus, the UK, Germany, Iran, Pakistan, Ukraine, and Japan.
In the capital, 63.5% of all enterprises with foreign investments are located, followed by Tashkent Region — 13%, Samarkand Region — 3.7%, and Ferghana Region — 3.4%.
Over the past five years, the number of such enterprises has increased 1.9 times, and the share of fully foreign-owned companies has grown from 54.6% to 76.4%, reflecting sustained interest from international investors in Uzbekistan’s economy.
