Uzbekistan Ratifies SCO Environmental Protection Agreement

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has ratified an international agreement on cooperation in environmental protection among the governments of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).

The agreement was signed on 4 July 2024 in Astana during a meeting of the Council of Heads of SCO Member States.

Under the presidential decree, the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change has been designated as the competent authority responsible for implementing the provisions of the agreement.

Oversight of compliance with the agreement after it comes into force will be the responsibility of the Cabinet of Ministers and the heads of the relevant ministries and agencies.
