Uzbekistan Ranks Second Globally in Apricot Production and Exports
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan ranks second in the world in both apricot cultivation and exports, and is also among the leading global producers of peaches, according to Ugiloy Boltaboyeva, Head of the Press Service of the Agency for the Development of the Agro-Industrial Complex.
During 2024–2025, the country plans to establish 43,200 hectares of intensive orchards and vineyards. The largest new plantation areas are located in Namangan (3,277 ha), Jizzakh (2,413 ha), Samarkand (2,539 ha), Surkhandarya (1,700 ha), and Andijan (1,439 ha) regions.
In the first nine months of this year, fruit exports reached 1.6 million tons worth USD 1.5 billion, covering more than 70 countries. With new orchards expected to begin yielding crops in the next two to three years, fruit exports are projected to increase by at least 30% over the next three to five years.
Globally, Uzbekistan ranks second after Türkiye in apricot production and second after Italy in apricot exports. The country is also among the top exporters of cherries, grapes, and peaches.
