Uzbekistan Ranks Among World’s Top 10 Gold Producers with 129 Tons Mined in 2024
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan entered the top 10 global gold producers in 2024, extracting 129 tons of the precious metal, which accounted for 3.5 percent of total global output, according to the World Gold Council (WGC).
Global gold production in 2024 reached 3,661 tons, up 0.5 percent compared to the previous year. China remained the world’s largest producer with 380 tons, followed by Russia (330 tons), Australia (284 tons), Canada (202 tons), and the United States (158 tons). Kazakhstan ranked 14th with 87 tons.
Jewelry manufacturing continues to be the largest consumer of gold, accounting for 2,003.5 tons, which is 9 percent lower than in 2023. Overall global demand for gold declined by 11 percent to 1,877.1 tons, driven largely by rising prices. However, jewelry expenditures increased by 9 percent, reaching $144 billion.
Uzbekistan continues to strengthen its position in the global gold market, reaffirming its status as one of the leading producers in the region.
