Uzbekistan Raises Exports of Electrical Products to Nearly US$1.5 Billion

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In recent years, Uzbekistan’s electrical industry has become one of the key drivers of the national economy. Production volumes in the sector have increased more than eightfold, and the share of electrical products in the country’s total exports has reached 10%, according to a special report by the television channel Uzbekistan 24.

Data presented in the report show that in 2025, the industry implemented 71 investment projects worth a total of US$655.8 million, creating 4,658 new jobs. Exports of electrical products approached US$1.5 billion, with shipments reaching more than 70 countries worldwide.

The report notes that consistent government support and the elevation of the sector’s status, beginning in 2016, have transformed the industry from primarily meeting domestic demand to producing high value-added export-oriented products.

In 2025, two presidential decrees were issued to further accelerate the development of the electrical industry. Production output for the year rose from UZS 30 trillion to UZS 35 trillion, while the geographical scope of projects expanded. Previously, enterprises were mainly concentrated in Tashkent and neighboring regions, but new facilities are now being launched in more remote areas of the country. Dozens of new enterprises were commissioned nationwide in 2025 alone.

The report also highlights progress in localization and import substitution. For instance, the joint venture Uzkabel in Tashkent produces over 3,000 types of cable and wire products certified to international standards, exporting to countries including Georgia, Azerbaijan, and Turkey. The company holds more than 10 international certificates, and its products fully replace imports in the domestic market.

In the consumer electrical goods segment, the share of national brands and demand for energy-efficient products is growing. In the Kibrai district of Tashkent region, an electric furnace manufacturing plant invested US$5 million, achieved 60% localization, and created around 100 jobs, with products exported to markets including Afghanistan.

The report emphasizes the social impact of the industry’s development. At a new electrical plant in the Kattakurgan district, over 100 local residents have been employed, which workers say directly improves family incomes and quality of life.

Additionally, thanks to conditions created by the head of state for implementing projects in renewable energy technologies, output in this segment reached US$400 million in 2025, compared with previous years. This has laid the foundation for expanding production capacity, localizing new product types, creating jobs, and reducing imports.
