Uzbekistan Railways Transported 10.9 Million Passengers and 106.4 Million Tons of Cargo in 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In 2025, Uzbekistan’s railway system demonstrated steady growth, reaffirming its key role in both passenger and freight transportation.
Over the year, 10.9 million passengers used railway services, while the total volume of cargo transported reached 106.4 million tons. Transit shipments also increased, exceeding 12 million tons.
As part of the infrastructure modernization program, the electrification of the Bukhara – Urgench – Khiva section was fully completed, bringing the share of electrified railway lines to 51%.
Construction works on the Baytkurgan – Parkent and Samarkand – Urgut routes have been completed, while the Miskin – Nukus section continues to undergo accelerated construction and electrification.
For 2026, the projects are set to expand, including the launch of the high-speed train “Jaloliddin Manguberdi”, construction of 110 kilometers of new railway lines, and fleet modernization. These measures aim to increase transport efficiency and strengthen the country’s railway infrastructure.
