Uzbekistan Proposes Opening Official Cambridge University Press Store in Tashkent
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister of Justice Muzraf Ikramov, held meetings in London with representatives from the UK’s Department for Business and Trade, Trading Standards, Cambridge University, as well as “IP House” and the Film Distribution Association.
The discussions focused on copyright protection for educational materials, including Raymond Murphy’s renowned English-language textbooks and other publications owned by Cambridge University.
Uzbekistan proposed the possibility of opening an official store in the country where original Cambridge University Press textbooks and materials could be purchased.
Participants also reviewed modern methods for detecting counterfeit products, widely used by civil society institutions and private companies in the UK.
The parties agreed to support the registration of Cambridge University’s intellectual property in Uzbekistan, jointly monitor copyright protection, organize training programs for specialists on combating counterfeit goods, and develop cooperation with leading international companies in the film and publishing sectors.
