Uzbekistan Promotes Trade with China at Shanghai Forum

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Shanghai, China, the “Central Asia–China” forum on Unimpeded Trade was held as part of the 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE).

Deputy Minister of Investments of the Republic of Uzbekistan Ilzat Kasimov delivered a speech at the forum. He emphasized the country’s favorable investment climate, significant industrial potential, and the strategic importance of developing trade corridors between Central Asia and China. Special attention was given to reducing trade barriers and accelerating the exchange of goods, services, and investments.

The event was attended by Governor of Jiangsu Province Liu Xiaotao, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliev, China’s Deputy Minister of Commerce Lin Ji, as well as representatives of governmental agencies and business circles from the region.

Jiangsu Province, the second-largest economy in China, reported a GDP exceeding $1.9 trillion in 2024. The region’s main sectors include machinery manufacturing, electronics, chemicals, shipbuilding, and renewable energy.

Forum participants highlighted the importance of regional integration and strengthening financial, logistical, and infrastructure connections, reaffirming their commitment to developing sustainable partnerships between Central Asian countries and China.
