Uzbekistan presents draft of updated “Uzbekistan-2030” strategy for 2026–2030

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 December, the Development Strategy Center announced the publication of a draft of the revised “Uzbekistan-2030” Strategy for the period from 2026 to 2030. The document has been developed in light of new economic realities, shifts in global markets, and the transformation of key sectors, including digital technologies and artificial intelligence.

The “Uzbekistan-2030” Strategy was approved by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in the autumn of 2023 and covers five priority areas. In his recent address to the parliament and the nation, the head of state noted that the previously planned GDP target of US$160 billion by 2030 will be achieved as early as 2026, and by the end of this five-year period the figure may reach US$240 billion.

The draft of the updated strategy was prepared with the participation of more than 350 representatives of government agencies and research institutions, who reviewed 444 performance indicators of the current strategy. Particular emphasis is placed on measurable indicators expressed in numerical terms, while non-specific objectives and slogans have been removed. The document outlines a year-by-year implementation schedule for targets, allocates responsibilities among roughly 60 ministries and agencies, and specifies concrete sources of funding for achieving each goal.

In addition, the strategy mandates that all sectoral and regional development concepts and policy documents must align with the core objectives of the “Uzbekistan-2030” Strategy. The annex to the draft lists 50 such documents, including industry and regional concepts and strategies.

Achieving the strategy’s performance indicators is reaffirmed as a priority task for all state bodies and organizations, enabling systematic monitoring of progress and ensuring the practical implementation of the goals set.
