Uzbekistan Prepares to Host Eco-Marathon “Creators of the Green Earth”

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan is preparing to hold the traditional eco-marathon competition Yashil zamin yaratuvchilari (“Creators of the Green Earth”) among parks, squares, alleys, and green zones across the country.

The event is organized in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 16, “On the State Program for the Implementation of the Strategy ‘Uzbekistan — 2030’ in the ‘Year of Environmental Protection and Green Economy.’”

The eco-marathon will be held in two stages: the district (city) round will take place from November 24 to December 12, followed by the regional round from December 15 to 19 in the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the regions, and the city of Tashkent.

Teams representing parks and green zones will consist of students from nearby general education schools, with each team including eight participants.

The competition program includes three stages. The first, titled “Ecology Expert,” will test participants’ knowledge through ten ecology-related questions. The second stage requires preparing and publishing articles on waste management and sustainable practices.

The final stage will be a practical task, during which teams will demonstrate their skills in plant care and the improvement of green spaces.

All stages will take place directly within parks, squares, and green areas, allowing experts to assess not only participants’ theoretical knowledge but also their practical abilities.

The eco-marathon aims to raise environmental awareness and civic responsibility among young people, foster intellectual growth in the field of the green economy, and develop teamwork and a respectful attitude toward nature.
