Uzbekistan Plans to Upgrade 4,000 Kilometers of Highways into Modern “Autobahns”
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Government of Uzbekistan is set to undertake a large-scale modernization of the country’s main highways as part of the 2026–2030 Road Construction and Reconstruction Program.
Under this initiative, approximately 4,000 kilometers of major roads will be transformed into fully-fledged “autobahns” meeting international standards.
Key modernization routes include the highways connecting Andijan to Kungrad, Tashkent to Termez, Samarkand to Shakhrisabz, and Olot to Sariosiyo.
Upgrading these roads to high-quality expressways aims to enhance regional accessibility, accelerate logistics flows, and strengthen the country’s domestic and international transport infrastructure.
The project will be financed through the state budget and resources from international financial institutions.
