Uzbekistan plans to abolish requirement to provide certificates from mahalla

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan intends to abolish the requirement to provide certificates and other documents from self-governing bodies of citizens (mahallas).

The Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan prepared a draft government resolution, which envisages cancellation of this procedure.

According to the Ministry of Justice, now in accordance with Uzbek legislation, mahallas issue certificates in 51 cases.

The draft resolution said that Uzbekistan intends to abolish the requirement to obtain certificates and other documents in the mahallas contained in 49 normative legal acts.

The information necessary for provision of services should be requested from government agencies authorized to maintain the relevant databases.

At the same time, the makhallas will retain the right to provide information about the property status of the family, the composition of its members (the degree of kinship), etc.
