Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the Children’s Multidisciplinary Clinic of Tashkent State Medical University, pediatric cardiac surgeon Bobur Turaev removed a damaged tricuspid valve from a six-year-old patient and replaced it with a valve made from the child’s own right atrial appendage, the Ministry of Health’s press service reported.

This technologically complex surgery is significant not only as a first in the country’s history, but also because similar procedures are performed only in advanced medical centers of developed countries.

In the first eight months of this year alone, under the leadership of Candidate of Medical Sciences and Head of the Department Nodir Ibragimov, the clinic has carried out about 500 cardiac surgeries, with Bobur Turaev making a substantial contribution.

Bobur Turaev was a recipient of the “El-Yurt Umidi” Foundation scholarship in 2018–2019, completing his master’s degree at University College London.

He has undertaken professional training at clinics in about ten developed countries and is the author of nearly twenty scientific publications. Despite his young age, he has successfully performed heart surgeries on more than one thousand young patients.
