Uzbekistan Participates in Korea Customs Week Forum

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan, led by Chairman of the Customs Committee Akmalkhoja Mavlonov, is participating in the opening of Korea Customs Week, an international forum focused on advancing customs cooperation and global trade systems.

The event serves as a leading platform for sharing best practices in customs administration, promoting paperless trade, and shaping a modern global trade ecosystem. This year’s forum brought together representatives from Central Asia, as well as Cambodia, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, and the Philippines.

Panel discussions addressed key topics such as digital trade ecosystems, “Single Window” information systems, paperless trade, and risk management using artificial intelligence and Big Data technologies.

In his remarks at the opening session, Mavlonov noted that modern customs services are operating in a rapidly evolving environment driven by the growth of international trade and digital transformation. He emphasized that digitalization remains a key priority for Uzbekistan, highlighting the introduction of advanced information systems, full automation of the declaration process, and the development of risk management and pre-arrival information systems. These measures have helped reduce processing times, increase transparency, and ease the administrative burden on businesses.

Uzbek representatives also delivered a presentation on cross-border e-commerce. The presentation was prepared by Customs Committee official J. Minavarov, who is currently studying at Hanyang University in South Korea.

During the session, Uzbekistan showcased its experience, including the recently introduced national customs risk management system, which attracted strong interest from forum participants.

In addition, bilateral meetings between participating delegations are scheduled on the sidelines of Korea Customs Week to discuss prospects for cooperation in customs and the development of international trade.
