Uzbekistan–Pakistan Political Consultations Held in Islamabad

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The 9th round of inter-ministerial political consultations between Uzbekistan and Pakistan was held in Islamabad on 31 January 2026.

The Uzbek delegation was led by First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhromjon Aloev, while the Pakistani side was headed by Pakistan’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Syed Ali Asad Gillani.

During the talks, the parties held in-depth discussions on the current state and future prospects of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan in the political, trade and economic, and cultural and humanitarian spheres. They also reviewed the progress in implementing agreements reached at the highest and high levels.

Participants in the consultations noted the active contacts maintained at various levels, the steady growth in bilateral trade turnover, and the implementation of joint projects in priority industrial sectors.

Particular attention was paid to strengthening parliamentary ties, expanding the legal and regulatory framework of bilateral cooperation, and developing engagement on multilateral platforms. The sides emphasized the importance of effectively utilizing existing potential in such areas as trade, industrial cooperation, agriculture, tourism, education, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.

The consultations also covered visits planned for 2026 at various levels, as well as the organization of joint events, including the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, a business forum, an exhibition of national products, and a number of cultural initiatives.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Uzbekistan and Pakistan reaffirmed their intention to continue close dialogue between their foreign ministries in order to further strengthen practical cooperation across a broad range of bilateral agenda items.
