Uzbekistan Officially Joins the International Metric Convention

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law “On the Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the International Metric Convention.”

The law formalizes Uzbekistan’s accession to the international treaty, originally signed in Paris on 20 May 1875 and subsequently amended in 1907, 1913, and 1921.

The International Metric Convention was established to set uniform measurement standards across countries.

Under the convention, the International Bureau of Weights and Measures (BIPM) was created to maintain the accuracy of standards for various physical quantities.

Uzbekistan’s accession will allow the country to integrate into the global metrology system and strengthen international cooperation in precise measurements.
