Uzbekistan, Netsweeper Discuss Online Child Safety
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — During a working visit to the United States, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with Lou Erdelyi, Chief Technology Officer of the Canadian company Netsweeper.
The parties discussed measures to strengthen internet safety in Uzbekistan, including protecting children and young people from harmful online content. Plans were considered for the phased introduction of content filtering systems in schools and universities, as well as the use of artificial intelligence for content classification and early detection of dangerous information flows.
Particular attention was given to technical solutions for telecom operators to manage content at the network level, ensure compliance with legislation, and protect user interests. The discussions also covered system transparency, security standards, and mechanisms for cooperation between institutions and telecom operators in implementing filtering technologies.
In addition, the sides exchanged views on joint initiatives in digital literacy and cyber culture, including practical training sessions and educational programs.
The importance of fostering safe and responsible internet use skills among young people was also emphasized.
