Uzbekistan National Team Defender Khusniddin Alikulov Successfully Undergoes Surgery in Italy

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan national team defender Khusniddin Alikulov has successfully undergone surgery in Italy, the Uzbekistan Football Association reported.

The footballer was operated on at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome by renowned surgeon Pier Paolo Mariani. Alikulov is currently in good condition and is preparing to begin his rehabilitation programme.

He sustained the injury on 19 January during a Turkish league match for Rizespor against Göztepe.

Medical examinations revealed ruptures of the anterior cruciate ligament and menisci of the knee joint, as well as damage to surrounding tissues.

Due to the severity of the injury, Alikulov’s participation in the FIFA World Cup remains uncertain.
