Uzbekistan modernizes water supply system in south

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan completes modernization of the system on water supply in SUrkhandarya region, cost of which made up US$40 million, RIA Novosti reported quoting source in the Ministry of Economy of Uzbekistan.

Within the project, it was planned to reconstruct 11 water distribution knots and 181 km of water networks in regional centers and towns of the region.

The project was financed due to loan of the Asian Development Bank for US$30 million, grant of the ADB multidonor fund for US$1.5 million and the resources of the Government of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan plans to implement projects on modernization on water supply and sewerage for US$4.32 billion. This will help to cover 100% population of the Uzbek cities with centralized water supply and rural population settlements – about 85-90%. The sewerage system will be available to 70% of population, who live in urban areas, which have sewerage system.
