Uzbekistan may increase customs duties on the import of mineral water
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan proposes to raise customs duties on the import of mineral water.
The Committee published a draft resolution of the President “On introducing changes to Presidential decree of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated June 29, 2018 No. PP-3818 “On measures to further streamline foreign economic activity and improve the system of customs and tariff regulation of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
The document proposes to set the rate for commodity products with HS code 2201 (Water, including natural or artificial minerals, carbonated, without added sugar or other sweetening, or flavoring substances; ice and snow) at the level of 50% of the customs value of the goods, but not lower that US$0.25 per liter.
Now the duty on the importation of this product is 30% of the customs value of the goods.
The document notes that this measure is aimed at stimulating domestic production, supporting a healthy competitive environment, and providing the domestic market with high-quality consumer goods.
