Uzbekistan may allow activities of private security agencies

A draft resolution of the President of Uzbekistan "On measures to further reduce the role of the state in the economy" was published on the portal for discussion of normative legal acts.

The document proposes from 1 January 2019 to transfer the provision of security services, except for protection of strategic, public facilities, to the private sector.

Private security agencies have been closed in Uzbekistan in 2014. Only the association "Protection" under the Ministry of Internal Affairs provided security services.

The draft resolution proposes to abolish this procedure and introduce licensing for this activity.
