Uzbekistan, Malaysia discuss prospects for further development of bilateral cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - On 17 April 2020, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kuala Lumpur Ravshan Usmanov met with the head of the Department for Cooperation with South and Central Asian Countries of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia, Mohammed Ajar bin Mazlan, in the form of video conferencing.

At the beginning of the negotiations, Ajar bin Mazlan expressed gratitude on behalf of the Government of Malaysia to the leadership of Uzbekistan for providing comprehensive assistance in organizing a charter flight to return 212 Malaysians to their homeland on 21 March 2020.

During the conversation, the current state and prospects for the further development of Uzbek-Malaysian cooperation in a pandemic were discussed.

During the talks, special attention was paid to the issues of enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation. In particular, it was noted that the “Friendship Group with Uzbekistan” created in February of this year in the Malaysian legislature opens up new prospects for further development of cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.

The parties agreed to organize videoconferences between the leadership of the respective ministries and departments of Uzbekistan and Malaysia to discuss practical steps to realize the significant potential for expanding cooperation in the political, trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian and other fields.
