Uzbekistan Launches Project to Build Capacity of Small-Scale Farmers

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A European Union grant project titled "Enhancing the Economic Potential and Efficiency of Small and Medium-Sized Farms" has been launched in Uzbekistan.

The initiative was presented at a ceremony attended by EU Ambassador to Uzbekistan Toivo Klaar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Latvia Girts Jaunzems, and adviser to the Minister of Agriculture Nuriddin Koshnazarov.

The project aims to increase the incomes of small agricultural producers, broaden their participation in value chains, and stimulate cooperative activity. It will be implemented between 2026 and 2028 by the Latvian Centralized Finance and Contracting Agency (CFCA) across the country.

The initiative envisages the introduction of best practices from European Union member states — Latvia in particular — in the development of agricultural cooperatives. The Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment have been designated as the project's principal partners, ensuring a systematic approach to supporting farm households and strengthening their economic resilience.
