Uzbekistan Launches Opt-In Credit Ban Registry to Combat Fraud

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — As of 6 June 2025, a new service aimed at protecting citizens from credit fraud has been officially launched in Uzbekistan.

According to the Credit Information and Analytical Center (CIAC), individuals can now request to be included in or removed from a special registry that prohibits the issuance of credit in their name without their explicit consent.

This innovation allows citizens to proactively prevent fraud schemes in which loans are fraudulently taken out in their names without their knowledge or approval.

To use the service, a person simply needs to submit a free application to the credit bureau. Once processed, the individual will be automatically added to the credit ban registry.

In the near future, the service will also be made available through government service centers and the Unified Portal of Interactive Public Services (my.gov.uz).

All banks, microfinance institutions, and other credit providers are now legally required to check whether a potential borrower is listed in the registry before issuing any credit agreement. This measure adds a new layer of protection for citizens’ personal data and financial security.
