Uzbekistan Launches October Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — October is traditionally recognized worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year, Uzbekistan’s campaign is being held under the slogan “Erta aniqlа — hayotni saqla” (“Early detection saves lives”).
The initiative is organized by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Agency for Strategic Reforms under the President, with support from the Institute for Health and Strategic Development, UNFPA Uzbekistan, the medical community, civil society, and the private sector.
In late 2024, the President approved State Program PP-402, “On Measures to Improve the System for Monitoring Oncological Diseases Among Women.”
The 2025–2030 action plan for controlling cervical and breast cancer aims to establish a comprehensive system of prevention, early diagnosis, and treatment of oncological diseases.
The key goal of the program is to reduce mortality from breast and cervical cancer through timely detection and treatment.
PP-402 also calls for the gradual introduction of screening programs for women aged 30–65 at the primary healthcare level, along with the development of the necessary infrastructure for early diagnosis and effective therapy.
