Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has initiated a new stage in the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, “Women, Peace, and Security,” with a national consultation dedicated to the draft National Action Plan for 2026–2030.
The event was organized by the National Human Rights Center, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, and the Committee on Family and Women’s Affairs, with support from the OSCE Project Coordinator in Uzbekistan.
In her address, Chairwoman of the Senate Committee on Youth, Women, Culture, and Sports Orzigul Kozikhonova highlighted that one of the key goals of the “New Uzbekistan” Strategy is to achieve gender equality by 2030. She emphasized that significant legislation has been adopted in recent years to protect the rights of women and children and to prevent violence.
During the consultation, participants reviewed the outcomes of the 2022–2025 National Action Plan and identified priority areas for the next stage. The draft National Action Plan for 2026–2030 includes measures to expand women’s participation in peacebuilding and socio-political processes, strengthen their security and rights, and further integrate gender equality principles into national policy.
Four working groups developed proposals focusing on:
Prevention of violence against women and girls;
Expansion of women’s involvement in peace processes and decision-making;
Raising public awareness of gender equality;
Strengthening cybersecurity measures.
The recommendations from these groups will form the basis for refining the draft National Action Plan before its submission for approval.
