Uzbekistan Launches A2A Bank Account Transfers
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has introduced a new format for money transfers between bank accounts (A2A), the press service of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan reported.
The service has been implemented on the basis of the instant payment system developed by the regulator’s Main Information and Computing Center.
The key difference from traditional P2P transfers is that transactions are carried out directly between customers’ bank accounts rather than via bank card numbers. Users are not required to issue new cards, as all existing cards are already linked to bank accounts.
According to the Central Bank, A2A transfers will be available through mobile applications of commercial banks, and the technical capability to provide the service has already been ensured for all banks in the country.
Fees for transactions will be set independently by banks as part of their pricing policies. The regulator emphasized that, in a market economy, it does not interfere in pricing, while the Main Information and Computing Center does not participate in setting fees, as it does not directly provide payment services to customers.
Citizens are advised to review the terms and tariffs of banks in advance to choose the most suitable option.
Earlier, the private Hamkorbank announced plans to launch A2A transfers in its mobile application in the near future.
The introduction of the new service follows a presidential directive requiring that, by 1 February 2026, the instant payment system ensure real-time direct transfers between individuals’ bank accounts.
