Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 6 February 2020, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov met with the Minister for Agriculture of Latvia, the co-chair of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic, Industrial, Scientific and Technical Cooperation, Kaspars Gerhards, in Riga.
According to the Uzbek Foreign Ministry, the sides exchanged views on prospects for intensifying trade-investment, high-tech, industrial, scientific and technical ties between the countries, using the potential of institutional mechanisms, including the Intergovernmental Commission.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan handed over the invitation to the Minister for Agriculture of Latvia to attend Tashkent International Investment Forum on 5-6 March, emphasizing that this unprecedented event for the Central Asian region is aimed at expansion of the economic potential of Uzbekistan and the advantages of trade-investment, innovative and technological partnership with the country.
The course of preparation for the eighth meeting of Uzbekistan – Latvia Intergovernmental Commission and the business forum in Tashkent was also considered at the meeting.
The parties noted the importance of reaching concrete agreements on strengthening the regulatory framework governing bilateral economic cooperation, including in customs administration, certification and standardization, forestry, ICT, tourism, transport, logistics and others.
