Uzbekistan, Kyrgyz Business Groups Boost Ties
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Alisher Shaykhov, Adviser to the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, held talks with Sergey Ponomaryov, Chairman of the Association of Markets, Trade Enterprises and Services of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to conclude a cooperation agreement aimed at expanding contacts between the business communities of the two countries.
The talks focused on strengthening trade and economic ties between entrepreneurs in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Particular attention was paid to increasing exports of Uzbek textile products to the Kyrgyz market, as well as deepening industrial cooperation between enterprises of both countries.
The sides also discussed the potential use of Uzbekistan as a transit platform to help Kyrgyz producers access third-country markets.
Participants described the initiative as a tool for advancing regional trade cooperation in Central Asia.
The Kyrgyz association, established on October 10, 2006, brings together entrepreneurs engaged in trade, market management and services. It works to protect their interests, improve the business climate and support business development in the republic.
The planned cooperation agreement is expected to create an institutional framework for joint business events and the expansion of direct contacts between entrepreneurs of the two countries.
