Uzbekistan Kicks Off AFC U-23 Championship Campaign with Victory

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s under-21 national team confidently kicked off the AFC U-23 Asian Football Championship in Saudi Arabia with a win in their opening match of Group C.

The match against Lebanon ended 3-2 in favor of the Uzbek side. The first goal was scored in the 24th minute by Amirbek Saidov.

In the second half, at the 50th minute, Ravshan Khairullaev doubled Uzbekistan’s lead, and seven minutes later, Sardor Bahromov netted the team’s third goal.

Lebanon managed to reduce the deficit in the 65th minute with a precise strike by Shahin Leonardo Farah, who completed his brace in the 90+5th minute.

In another Group C match, Iran and South Korea played to a 0-0 draw.

Uzbekistan’s next matches are scheduled for January 10 against Iran and January 13 against South Korea.
