Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan mull development of trade-economic ties

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The 18th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Tashkent.

The commission was headed by the Prime Ministers of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. The event  marked the high level of bilateral relations and the priority development of multifaceted cooperation between the countries. In their speeches, the heads of government noted that the current model of good-neighborly relations between the two countries is exemplary and can serve as an example for all neighboring states.

According to the participants themselves, the meeting itself became an effective platform for discussing and working out topical issues in the field of investment, industrial cooperation, trade, tariff regulation, mutual recognition of certification documents on a number of products, development of cross-border transport and communication infrastructure in the format of close contact of representatives of relevant ministries Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.

As a result of the work of the commission, agreements were reached on increasing the volume of investment cooperation, with a view to creating joint industrial clusters, ensuring accelerated growth in commodity turnover, and reconstructing a number of road and rail routes in order to increase freight and passenger traffic and develop tourism.

Within the framework of these agreements, relevant documents were signed at the interagency level and road maps for their implementation were developed.
