Uzbekistan joins two more CIS documents

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) – Uzbekistan joined two more documents of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

These are agreements on cooperation in the humanitarian, interregional and border areas. In the coming days, notifications will be sent on the implementation of domestic procedures for the entry into force of these agreements.

The relevant resolutions were signed by the President of Uzbekistan dated 9 December 2019.

These are the following international treaties:

Agreement on the Council for Humanitarian Cooperation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, signed at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS on November 28, 2006 in Minsk. The Ministry of Culture of Uzbekistan is the competent authority responsible for the implementation of this document;

Agreement on the Council for Interregional and Cross-Border Cooperation of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States, signed at a meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS on October 10, 2008 in Bishkek. The Ministry of Economy and Industry is responsible for the implementation of this agreement in Uzbekistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan will send notifications to the depositary on the implementation of domestic procedures for the entry into force of these agreements and on the competent authorities from the Uzbek side in the coming days.

After the entry into force of the agreements, the Uzbek government and the heads of relevant ministries and departments take responsibility for monitoring the implementation of the obligations undertaken by the state.
