Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan joined the Open Knowledge Foundation discussion group and created the Open Knowledge Uzbekistan discussion group. The main goal of the platform is to discuss local issues, events, ideas and projects in the country.
The Open Knowledge Foundation is a global non-profit organization focused on promoting the value of open data for society, helping civil society to access and use data to solve social problems.
According to the State Statistics Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Global Open Data Index, which is also part of the Open Knowledge International, was created, this platform was created to assess the state of open government data in the world.
In December last year, Uzbekistan entered the list of top 10 countries with open data sources. Ranking ninth with 52 open data sources among 100 countries according to Open Data Inception. However, when compiling a rating, only the number of sources, open data is taken into account, the content and quality of Open Data Inception does not analyze.
Also, from 13 to 15 December 2019, Tashkent hosted an Open Data Day 2019 open data conference and a competition (Hackathon) to develop applications based on open data Open Data Challenge 2019, aimed at promoting the open data concept, developing IT entrepreneurship and the country’s economy.
The hackathon is held annually in order to popularize the idea of open data in Uzbekistan and to draw the attention of developers and the general public to this relatively new field of knowledge for Uzbekistan.
