Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Since 1 June 2025, Uzbekistan has implemented a system for assigning penalty points for traffic violations.
According to the press service of the Road Safety Department (SBDD), more than 114,000 drivers received penalty points during the first five months of the system’s operation. The majority — 114,374 drivers — received between 1 and 5 points, while six drivers accumulated 5–6 points, one driver received 7 points, and another — 8 points.
An analysis of traffic accident statistics shows positive trends: from June 1 to October 30, the total number of road accidents decreased by 6.3%, and accidents caused by driver fault dropped by 31.2%. “These figures confirm that the introduction of the penalty point system has produced tangible results, which had not been observed previously,” noted Zoir Yuldoshev, head of the SBDD press service.
Starting from 1 April 2026, the system will be supplemented with technical tools to record violations in real-time online.
Under this system, penalty points will be allocated between the vehicle owner and other individuals operating the vehicle under a power of attorney, insurance policy, or travel sheet.
For user convenience, the SBDD will launch a mobile application, with detailed instructions and usage rules to be announced later.
