Uzbekistan Introduces New Driving License Rules from 2026
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Starting from 2026, Uzbekistan will implement new rules for obtaining driver’s licenses. According to Resolution No. 676 of the Cabinet of Ministers dated 25 October 2025, several key changes will take effect.
From 1 January 2026, a new A1 category will be introduced for riding mopeds and scooters. For this category, attending a driving school will not be required — citizens will be able to take the exam directly.
From 1 February 2026, for obtaining categories A and B, applicants will be allowed to study the theoretical part of the exam independently, making attendance at driving schools optional.
From 1 April 2026, to enhance road safety, an automated traffic violation monitoring system using photo and video cameras will be introduced. Violations captured by the system will be recorded in the demerit points system.
