Uzbekistan intends to start production of Hyundai electric vehicles
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan intends to start mass production of Hyundai electric vehicles.
It is expected that the project will be implemented in the Kokand free economic zone. Production of Hyundai cars is scheduled to begin by 2023.
Implementation of the project worth US$300 million will begin in 2021. The capacity of the plant will be 10,000 electric vehicles per year.
Hyundai, Evergreen Motors, the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade and the Ferghana regional khokimiyat are taking part in the project.
Currently, the Hyundai-Namangan KD Plant will be built in Turakurgan district of Namangan region.
It is expected that the new plant will begin to produce the first products in September 2019. The plant at the first stage will produce 400 trucks, minibuses and buses. Gradually, the capacity of the plant will be increased to 2,500 vehicles.
