Uzbekistan intends to open a wholesale trade center for textile products

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan and Turkey intend to create a center for wholesale (semi-wholesale) trade in textile and knitted garments TEXTILKENT based on the experience of similar centers in Turkey and Europe.

Within the framework of the visit of the Turkish business delegation led by the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the Republic of Uzbekistan, on 30 April 2018, the Uzbek-Turkish business forum with the participation of Uzbek and Turkish companies was held in Uzexpocenter.

During the forum, the presentation of the activity of the Association "Uztekstilprom" was held. The participants were informed about achievements in the textile industry of Uzbekistan in recent years, as well as current state and prospects for development of international cooperation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the production and export of textiles.

During the business forum, negotiations were held with Turkish companies and potential partners, such as Murat Tul, Korino Group, Resa Chemie, Enther, Demez Oglu, Eroglu Holding, SUR Corporatewear, Baytex.

The Uzbek side provided detailed information on textile industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, created favorable conditions on the part of the Government of the country for foreign investors and successfully implemented major projects with the participation of foreign investors, as well as provided benefits and preferences for textile enterprises.

Turkish companies especially noted the economic achievements of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the possibility of attracting large Turkish companies to implement joint investment projects for the production of finished textile, hosiery and sewing and knitwear products, as well as curtains and accessories.

During the meeting with the head of "Demez Oglu", the manufacturer and supplier of such famous brands as "Moschino", "Versace", "Dolce & Gabbana", "Aeronautica", Mr. Mehmet Demezoglu discussed creaotion a center for wholesale (semi-wholesale) trade in textile and knitted garments TEXTILKENT based on the experience of similar centers in Turkey and Europe. As a result of the negotiations, preliminary agreements were reached on implementation of the planned project.

Also, within the framework of the forum, a meeting was held with the President of the Council for Foreign Economic Relations of Turkey "DEIK" Nail Olpak, during which issues of reducing the excise tax on imports of Uzbek producers were discussed.

Negotiations also underscored the positive changes in increase in the volume of mutual trade and expansion of the nomenclature of goods.

Turkey is one of the important trade partners of Uzbekistan. In 2017, the volume of trade between our countries increased by 30 percent and amounted to US$1.5 billion.

In 2017, exports of products (cotton yarn, knitted fabrics, carpets, sewing and knitted goods, cotton wool, etc.) from Uzbekistan to Turkey reached US$109.5 million. The figure hit US$40 million in the first quarter of 2018.
